Munich - DAY 2

Day 2 = Hangover Day

We managed to drag ourselves out of bed to walk to the beautiful Englisher Garten for a delicious lunch of shnitzle mit chips.

Here Grant and Miguel are navigating us through the large park.

mmm...yum!

Then we decided to read about beer instead of drink it at the Bier and Oktoberfest Museum...

...okay, so we did sample one beer at the end, but just a quarter litre, not a full litre.

Then it was home for a quick nap before heading back down to Oktoberfest to meet friend Jayanti who lives in Munich and had the connections to get us in the back door of Hofbrau into the reserved seating section! We love you Jayanti!

Munich & Oktoberfest!

DAY 1

Our first adventure as a married couple! We got up at 3am to catch a 7am flight to Munich, went straight from the plane to the 'tracht' store to buy our traditional Bavarian outfits (Lederhosen and Dirndl). Then met up with friend Miguel and we were down at the festival by 3pm! We all managed to get quite drunk, get spit up for a while and miraculously find eachother for one last beer of the night. What a first day!

Welcome!

Welcome to our blog! We hope you enjoy the pictures and blurbs we share with the goal of making you feel like you're here with us.

This first post is to explain the name of our blog, 'cheeky vimto'.

Vimto is a popular English drink, which is a dark purple syrup or cordial, that is mixed with water to make a tastey, sugary, black current-fruity drink. Grant's old roomate Zai drank unhealthy amounts of it, and got us both hooked. And as Zai is Muslim and doesn't drink, Grant would often bring a bottle of Vimto to his parties in liu of alcohol.

So, what is a cheeky vimto? This is a delicious (and dangerous) alcoholic beverage which tastes just like vimto, but miraculously, does not contain it. We have recently become privy to the recipe, and if you'd like to try one, you'll have to come visit us in Liverpool.

Sharing a pitcher at one of our favorite spots in Liverpool, 'the Jacaranda'!

(Caution: if you are in Scotland, it's called a 'crazy vimto'.)
