Grant's Birthday

We had perfect weather for Grant's birthday. I took him for lunch outside on a patio, then we went on a walk. It started along the canal, then went through some private property and through a cow shed! And then we stayed at a country inn for the night [in the romantic suite!]

Along the canal, one of the canal boats, possibly some Scots??

What is cuter than a duckling!!?

The secret door...

The public footpaths in England are so old [like go back to medival times] that they run through private property but the public still have the right of way to walk through!!

As long as you follow the yellow arrows, you're ok...at one point we walked right through a cow barn!! Cow's on either side of us!

Such a beautiful day...

The Birthday boy's suite for the night

Complete with jacuzzi tub!

[The decor was a bit dated...]

BSAVA Congress - Birmingham

The (BSAVA) British Small Animal Veterinary Assosiation hosts the biggest Veterinary congress once a year in Birmingham. It's 4 days of lectures, free food and booze and veterinary paraphenalia!

The Trade Show

Grant joined us [me and Ariel, a friend from Vet school who now works near London] on the Saturday

The ICC [International Conference Centre]

The Party Night [if there is one thing I learned in school, it's Vets like to P-A-R-T-Y]

Paul Zerdin, awesome ventriloquist/comedian

The Counterfeit Stones [Grant does a better Mick Jagger than this guy]

The Feeling, a pretty good band with a few radio hits, recognize the lead singer? It's George McFly!!

Laura in the Lakes

My work schedule was pretty crazy in Feb and Mar and I ended up worked 24 out of 26 days! So at the end of it, my wonderful husband arranged for a relaxing weekend away in the Lake District.
The fantastic hotel Grant booked, with an indoor pool, sauna and fabulous restaurant!

It also had swings!! Which Laura loved, but the swings didn't love her, those few extra pounds...it was creaking quite a bit...

Spring is in bloom!

It had fantastic views as well!

Went for a boat ride around lake Derwentwater the following day, too bad it was a bit cool and rainy

Relaxed and rejuvinated

Laura learns how to make sushi

The Northwest of England is lacking Sushi restaurants, so I had to learn how to make it myself.

Not too shabby!!
